In the 1980's such laws were called the solutionto America's "rising tide of bigotry and bloodshed," and they are now on the books at the federal level and in 45 states. But, the truth of the matter is that they function as a means to silence Christians and tear at our social fabric. It is no exaggeration to say that hate crime laws threaten our freedom of speech, religous liberty, and equal justice before the law.
